OLI OFUR
Dj Óli Ofur is one of the Icelandic underground dance music scene favorites, gained his reputation by solid good gigs and by mixtapes that has spread out in Reykjavik city (and further) over the past years.
He started out early 2001, throwing parties called Ofur, with a couple of friends in Akranes, a fish-industried village close to Reykjavík. Rumors started to spread out in the capital, and after a while he started to play out, without knowing a soul within the “scene”. Today he’s respected within it, and plays from drum n’ bass to minimal, and from deephouse to bangin techno venues and radio programs. His heart always lies with the underground sounds, and tough his sets can sound different genre vise, you can hear something that touches your mind and moves with your soul.
Since the disco era, the dance music has had good relationship with light- and sound systems, Óli Ofur has been aware of this, and with his hard work, he has managed to get his own system (he now owns a rental company) and often beefs up the systems of the clubs he's playing at. Dancers all over likes this (",) Owning a sound system has given him the oppertunity to promote more and better parties. It has to be admitted that not all of them have had all required licenses.
